GRADUATE COURSES

 
  There is 12 Departments in Graduation .
       1.Department of Anatomy
                   
Duration of Anatomy in the curriculum of BHMS is in the first 1 ½ years. Studies comprised of complete study of human Anatomy with the help of dissection of dead bodies. University Examination at the end of one and half years and every six months average/semester examination are conducted. There should be separate minimum of 50 marks for theory and particles.

       2.Department of Physiology and Bio Chemistry
                   According to the syllabus and curriculum the teaching of Physiology and Bio Chemistry for a period of 1 ½ years i.e. First BHMS.

      3.Department of Pharmacy
                  Pharmacy is taught during the first 1 ½ years of the BHMS course .Two batches exist. The internees are also posted under this department for getting proper experience is dispensing medicine and they are submitting assignments. University Examination at the end of 1 ½ years and every six month average examinations are conducted. NCP course is also going under the supervisor of this department.

      4.Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology
               
Students are taken to medical college Thiruvanathapuram to see Post mortem. A minimum of 10 cases should be recorded. Study visit to forensic lab and finger print bureau is also conducted. Internees are also given 15 days training in the forensic Department

     5.Department of Pathology and Microbiology
               The teaching of Pathology includes clinical, lecturer and practical classes, seminars and tutorials. Practical class consists of clinical pathology heamatology, cytology and urine analysis. There is histopathological demonstration of slides and specimens.

     6. Department of Social & Preventive Medicine

              Imparting training in community medicine should be given in the second BHMS of medical studies by the lectures, particles, demonstration tutorials, seminars, field studies, OP, Peripheral OP’s, medicine camps and issue of preventive medicine. The student should be directed to the importance of preventive medicine day to day health problems in the community and health promotion. Training of student or internee to prescribe Homoeopathic medicine for curative purpose and preventive aspect. 

     7. Department of surgery
 
             The aim of teaching surgery in homoeopathic Medical colleges is to enable the students to handle various surgical cases with the help of Homeopathic medicines. This is achieved by study of various surfical disease, individualization of the case and application of well selected Homeoppathic medicines to the patients. In addition to the class room teaching students and internees are posted in OP and IP for practical training. Radiology dept. is functioning under the department of surgery where facilities are available for taking x-ray with help of expert technical staff.

      8. Department of Obsterics and Gynecology

            The department readers OP and IOP treatment various gynecological disorders including mental complaints, uterine and overain tumours and for complaints during pregnancy. The department classes for second and third BHMS students. Internees and IIIBHMS students are posted in W&C Hospital Thycaud for 1 month for clinical training. In patient and outpatient teachings is imparted to III BHMS students. For diagnotic purposes facilities like X-ray and USS are available.
      9.Department of Practice of Medicine
           The Practice of medicine in Homeopathic is practice of Homoeopathic Medicine, which incorporates the study of disease and individualization, which forms the corner stone of Homoeopathic practice. Ina addition to class room teaching seminars, inpatient and out patient teaching is also imparted to students from II BHMS onwards. Internees are posted for a month in the dept. Teaching is also given ECG,X-ray,Ultra Sound Scan and accessory aids like Oxygen theraphy, Nebulaisation etc.

     10,Department of Case Taking and Repertorisation.
            Curriculums of studies consist of the following topics extending from 2 nd BHMS onwards. 1. Case taking.2. Analysis and Evaluation of symptoms.3. History of evolution of Repertories.4. Different repertories including card repertory.5. Computer methods of reptorisation like RADAR, HOMPATH, HRS etc.This dept enables the students to develop skills in interrogation and simillimum selection. They are also provided with training in computer application in Homeopathic treatment. The MD Course in repertory began in this department in 1997.

     11. Department of Organon of Medicine.
            Curriculum of studies consist of the following topics extending over the entire period of course.
  1. History of medicine.
  2. Emergence of Ho in various countries.
  3. Principles and rulesmeopathy and its spread relatig to Homeopathic practice.
  4. Homeopathic Philosophy-Explanation an commentary on principles and practice of Homeopathic according to various authors.
     12. Department of Materia Medcia
            Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are conducted under this department. There are 2 Libraries .(1) Department Library (2) PG Library. Computer facility is also available in this department.
